Thrilling tales of mild discomfort and general complacence

I just realized that I never got around to discussing Halloween! How silly of me.
Well for one thing it was Parents Weekend here, so that kept some people more in check than they would have been (wouldn't want to be hung over with your parents). But that doesn't mean that *no one* was so drunk that they fell over.
During the day I went to my classes and then hung around with the parents when we went out for dinner. Since they're pretty old they called it a night at 9:30. I went back to my house after that and just chilled for a bit. Eventually some of up went up to Matt's room to chat over some mixed drinks (Baileys and Kaluah. God bless that boy's bartending diploma...). I hadn't planned on going out to any parties, but people ended up convincing me to go to the party at Fiji at least for a little while. The thing was, I had to go in costume. I had the black stuff from my ninja costume, but that was going to be *waaaay* too hot in a crappy Frat basement filled with people. I improvised a pretty good "Goth" costume, though, but I ended up looking so much like Death that I just decided that I was dressed as her. I don't think anyone here is even as vaguely familiar with Sandman as I am, but I liked the costume nonetheless.
The frat party wasn't as much fun as the getting ready for it, but that was expected on my part. I still went and enjoyed the company of my friends, though.
On to Saturday. I took my parents up to Williamsport to show them (a) that there *is* a city nearby and (b) what Lycoming college, where Jason goes, looks like. Too bad we were there while the college was on Fall Break, so the town just looked creepy and dead. Oh well. Back down Route 15. On the way back we decided to visit Clyde Peeling's Reptiland, one of the premier attractions of Central Pennsylvania.
Just to be clear, Reptiland rocks. Clyde's been on Late Night wil Conan O'Brian a bunch of times and they have all sorts of cool animals. We saw the giant snakes that he brings on the shows, and bunch of pretty little poisonous frogs, sweet little turtles, nifty lizards, and (most importantly) Al the Aldabran Tortoise. He's my friend! I had been to Reptiland before on a Biogragraphy field trip, and we got to feed him and pet him and he's just the best tortoise ever! He likes humans because he used to be a pet. Unfortunately, the rich bastards that took him from Aldabra weren't careful and Al's heating lamp fell on him and burned away a big piece of his shell...jerks. But he's so cute! Like a scaley puppy the size of a MiniCooper! I <3 Al...
Ahem...anyway (now that I'm done getting giddy about a tortoise...) my parents really enjoyed Reptiland, but then we really had nothing to do until 8 when we saw a Tango group (dancers and musicians). All I'm gonna say on that was that it amazing and that Tango dancing looks so far out of my abilities that I'd probably be able to learn Japanese in less time than I'd be able to learn that.
Sunday was their last day here, and since the school had nothing planned, we went out and saw a movie (Runaway Jury. Excellent. Go see it. NOW. Mr Cusack demands it).
And since then I've been on my own. I cooked a real dinner tonight of (pre-)seasoned chicken and garlic potatos (I made *them* from scratch). What can I say? Just call me Iron Chef Bucknell.

Things I want: Plum coloured nail-polish. I'm getting really good at doing my nails, and now I'm looking for more variety in colours (nails are currently bright friggin' red). The other thing I wanted today was a Golden Delicious Apple, but I got that, and have another in case the craving rises again.
