Music: Kill Bill Soundtrack - Don't let me be misunderstood
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I would like to point out that it isn't even 11 am yet and already this day is crazy.
I woke up at about 9:30 (I have no idea why. I was up until 12:30). I went in to the kitchen to get some water for tea, and it was snowing! Please realize that I am a total two-year old when it comes to stuff like this, so I made a happy noise, forgot the tea and made some hot coco instead. I was just about to turn on the TV for some Indiana Jones goodness, when I heard something going down in the living room. Not caring that I looked like death on toast first thing in the morning, my coco and I went out to see what was up.
They caught Saddam Hussein.
What. The fuck.
I got there in the middle of somone's commentary, and MSNBC doesn't have the problem that CNN does where they replay a clip a bajillion (scientific term) times, so I had no idea what he was looking like, or where they had found him.
After a couple of minutes, they played the clip. Elena was right. It didn't look like him at all. He looked like an old man that they dragged out of a nursing home. But I guess living in an 8 foot deep hole for a long time'll do that to you.
At this point Linda left her room for the first time today. She comes in to the living room, we tell her Saddam was living in a hole and we caught him, and then she saw there was a whole bunch of snow on the ground.
In essence, we broke Linda.
But despite the fact that one of history's most brutal dictators has been caught, I'm gonna go on with my life. I know it means alot symbolically, and I'm sure it means the world to civilian Iraqi citizens, but I don't see it as changing much for the people I care about. I'm happy, I really am. And it makes me feel good that the fucker was living in a hole and had to be de-loused by troops. But I gotta tell ya, beyond that little inner Nelson laughing at the bastard...I can't see it meaning too much more.
Right then. Indiana Jones time
