Okay...my fascism reading are starting to get to me.

I've been reading a book called "The Fascists in Britain" for my paper, and so far so good. It's easy to read and has a lot of good information. The part that won't leave my brain came from a listing of Mosley's underlings.

The man who won't leave my brain served as Mosley's propaganda guy from 1933 until he was hanged for treason. His name was William Joyce.

Normally that wouldn't bug me. There are 85 bajillion Joyces in this world and I couldn't possibly be related to all of them. But this guy....for some reason he was sticking. So out of morbid curiousity, I looked for more info.

William Joyce was born in New York in 1904 before moving back to Ireland, where he was raised. Don't ask me how he got to be a British Fascist. I have no fuckin' clue. But he was born in New York...and in 1904...I *know* that the family was in NYC at that time...

Now I'm probably making something out of nothing, but how could you not be curious about shit this fucked up? There had to be some way I could tell he wasn't one of my family...Then I got the great idea to go looking for a picture.

I had read this dude got a razor taken to his face, but it wasn't so bad. It was just a line that went from the back of his head to his mouth horizontally on his right cheek creating a dent in his face. But the face shape really didn't strike me. If I can manage to look like the entire city of Cork, this guy's allowed to have a face like Grandpa Joyce. But there was one thing...

His ears...they look just like the ears that my grandfather, my father, and all of my uncles have. Big one's that stick out very specifically...William Joyce's look just like that...

HOW FREAKY IS THIS!? This dude might be a removed relative, but I'm reading about him in a book on British fascism....

Oh well. He's probably not related. I mean, what are the odds of that, right? But still. It makes one wonder.
