GOOD LUCK! You're gonna be fine. I think you should add "close proximity to toilet" to your list though, because it sounds like you're going to have to pee really soon. :-P

Music: Tom Waits - Army Ants
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The song above is one of the reasons I think I'm going crazy.
It's about bugs. Like nature documentary style commentary about many species of bugs spoken over a walking bass line.
I love this shit.
I bought the new 56 song Tom Waits uber-album last night. This guy's gonna leave me broke. He puts out like 3 albums a year and they're all good. It's music that actually calms me and makes me forget whatever else I'm doing. Who needs drugs or alcohol when you have amazing lyrics to listen to?
Why am I rambling incessently about an album from a guy no one's heard of?
Because I really just don't want to talk about the application problems I'm having or the severe stomach problems it's causing me.
Music: Johnny Cash - Sunday Morning Coming Down
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It's not in.

Why isn't it in?

I could have WALKED this shit to LSAC faster.

There's no good reason for my paperwork not to be in. There just isn't.

What am I going to do? This stuff needs to be done on February 1st. Nothing is in. I can't do anything. I only have ten days left and I can't do anything.

How the fuck is this happening.

Oh my God...I think I'm going to be sick...

There's nothing I can do to make this go faster. Nothing at all.

What am I going to do?

Just checked in on the transcripts. Apparently they were put in the mail on Monday, so I should be ready to go by the end of the week...

Now to just sit around and be a moron until then.

Played World of Warcraft for the first time in like a month last night. It was a lot of fun to be back. I frequently think of the internet as stupid, but there really are some fun, nice people out there.

Making progress on the cardigan I'm making too. This is basically my "anxiety sweater" since whenever I start to freak out over the applications, I pick up my knitting.

Hopefully the product won't be as spazzy as my moods.

Glad the paperwork is on the way. Hopefully less freaking out now.

Or more, because I will say that the waiting to hear back definitely sucks.

Okay...A third of the paperwork being in to LSAC is better than none of the paperwork being in to LSAC.

The letter of recommendation from my boss is in, but I still need my transcripts and the other letter. I'm sick of spinning my wheels, here!

But I have plenty of things to kill time with. Specifically, playing World of Warcraft again. I picked up the expansion last night (full story of the midnight launch event found here [yes A, that was a link]), and if I don't get the emails that I need, that'll be what I try to do today. If nothing else just to reaffirm that I do still play.

Have finally gotten back on track with the gym...not that the enormous chocolate chip muffin I just inhaled is at all helpful but whatever. I'm trying. Kinda.

Work is dull, but I do have things to do. This file I'm trying to archive? I have no idea what the eff is going on and therefore I'm having a hard time figuring out what's important enough to scan in. Bah. I'll figure it out eventually.

Music: The Clash - Train in Vain (Stand By Me)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I know I'm being paranoid. It's only been a couple of days. I should really give this more time before I have a full blown anxiety attack...
But we all know that waiting for a justifiable excuse to panic has never been my style.
Most applications for law school are due on February 1st...I sent a whole bunch of paperwork out on Tuesday afternoon...It appears as though nothing has gotten in to LSAC yet...
It's all out of my hands and that terrifies me.
I can't stand it when something directly related to me and my future is not under my direct control. I've always operated under the assumption that other people are equally frustrated by these situations, so whenever something comes up at work where responsibility for someone else's day falls to me...I get my shit together and do it so they're back in control ASAP.
Do unto others as you would have done unto you.
So come one, Bucknell! I didn't pay extra money for same day service on my transcripts so you could just push my request from one side of the desk to the other! And post office! Pennsylvania isn't that far away! I could probably have driven the letter to LSAC in less time than it's taking you.
I can't stand this. I want to get back to work on this but...I have to wait. I have to wait on other people. Damnit.
Nothing to report. Dull as dirt.
But this site, You Knit What??, has given me more laughing fits than anything else out there lately. As someone who knits, it's important for me to know that, despite the fact that I'm not particularly skilled, other people have fucked up worse than me. It's not updating anymore, but it's still hi-Goddamned-larious.
DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Way to be about two years late to the party, folks. Anyone paying more than superficial attention to the situation coulda told you that forces from surrounding nations were behind starting a lot of this shit.
I refuse to believe that I am smarter than the people who's job it is to figure this shit out. What the fuck? Why are we just doing this now? Who was being ignored...
Goddamn it...If we'd just done this a few years ago we'd be on our way out by now....
Music: Mindless Self Indulgence - Bitches
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Okay. Alright. This is good...Yeah!

I sent out three letters yesterday: One to Bucknell to make them send my transcript in to the service that'll be helping me with my law school applications (LSAC). The second was for my professor so she can send in the letter of recommendation she's written to LSAC. The third is going directly to LSAC as a completed letter of recommendation.

Now it's up to God and the USPS to get me to the next step, which is the filling out of each school's application.

It's also official. I'm pretty much stacking my applications for the big City. No more farms for me. Time to be a big girl.

Speaking of things I've finished, the sweater is 100% complete. I'm actually wearing it right now. I know I know that's totally lame, but it's pure wool, not itchy, and keeps me super warm even though it's 35 degrees out. I don't look like a total moron in it, and I put a ton of effort in to making it so I'm gonna wear it...So there!

Lastly, a little news item. Aparently a Muslim Barbie-equivalent doll named Fulla is selling like crazy in Cairo. The big difference between Barbie and Fulla is that Fulla wears traditional Muslim dress, headscarf and all. What would be interesting would be to see if Fulla could sell over here. I think that would be an interesting experiment. She's a very pretty doll, after all.

Music: Cake - Italian Leather Sofa
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Couple quick shots:
On Saturday, the had a birthday Snakes on a Plane-ebration for Carrie's birthday. The DVD worked just fine and that movie really is as awesome as I remember.
I also have to confess that I have been spending a lot of time watching Bravo and A&E. Top Chef is drama-riffic, possibly just as drama-riffic as Project Runway. And on A&E there's Dog the Bounty Hunter. God help me I fuckin' love that show. It's like cops but better because Dog has the most majestic mullet of all time and his kids are friggin adorable. I can't help it. I watched the entire damned marathon (if you can even call it that. Dear A&E: Three hours does not constitute a marathon. If that were the standard, TNT would have to call every Monday night lineup a Law & Order marathon).
But while I was watching...I finished my sweater! Well...Kinda! It's sweater shaped, which is better than I was expecting. I still need to add the collar, but it's coming out so well. Well...it's not exactly great looking...But it's pretty nice. Not shame enducing at all! The sleeves are the same length and I can get my head through the collar. It's warm and a flattering color. It looks a little deformed in the picture, but that's really just how I laid it out to make it fit in the frame. I'm so proud! I made it all by myself!
Next project: Cardigan :)
Music: Starsailor - Music Was Saved
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm getting a lot done, but it's not enough. I'm scheduling all this stuff for myself and, while much of it gets finished, plenty of it doesn't. And that makes me a sad panda.

Things that aren't helping:

- It seemed like a great idea at the time to start an iPod holder and I finished it last night...now I have a lopsided thingy with poorly secured velcro for a closure...it's really bad. Beyond shortbus knitting....I'm sorry to everyone who may have to ever look at it.

- I have developed a minor addiction to bittorrent. There's a ton of stuff out on these here internets

- I have a ton of other stuff that I want to be doing other than law school applications that sound like justifiable ways to spend my time. For example, my mother got me the Level 2 Rosetta Stone software for French and I totally want to start on that.

I'll make this work.

In other news, it seems like people are looking to heroes these days...

Music: Wilco - We're Just Friends
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I got owned yesterday.
I was all set to leave at three and go to the gym and do all this stuff before having a Snakes on a Plane movie night....
Had to stay until 5. Didn't make it home before the gym closed. The DVD I got was defective.
Ultimate pwnage. On me.
Today should be better. I'm returning the DVD after work. I know I can make it to the gym today. I'm making progress on the application front. And in spite of the DVD not working, I think we still had fun last night hanging out, even if we did spend most of the time watching Giffen play Civ IV. I think I'm gonna be a-okay.
I do have one thing I'm a little pissed about, though. I don't know if the sweater I'm making is going to look even vaguely wearable. I've never sewn together pieces before and the whole "attaching sleeves" thing is freaking me out. I only have one sleeve left to make and the nice little cowl neck that made me want to make the sweater in the first place. To boost my self esteem, I'm making a super-easy, eye-searingly ugly iPod holder. It's got stripes. Stripes are fun.
Music: Tom Waits - Low Side of the Road
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm freaking out.

My applications are due in a month and I don't have either of my letters of recommendation and my personal statement is only semi-finalized and I don't know how to send in my transcripts and I don't know where I'm supposed to send them and I haven't filled any of the individual school applications out yet.

Okay....Now that I got that off my chest I can get back to work.

I got my personal statement down to 2 pages yesterday. I'm going to work on one of the recommedations today. I'll email my professor one more time about where I need to send that form for her letter. I'll bookmark the different school applications tomorrow.

If I keep this in managable chunks, I can avoid going insane.

I'm also going to finally get back to the gym. I would have gone yesterday but the cold I've been fighting punched me in the face and I couldn't even go to work, but I slept most of the day so I feel much better now. I'm not achey anymore, just sniffly.

But the gym takes a back seat to my acquisition of SNAKES ON A PLANE!! Totally gotta make a movie night of this some time soon...

Organization. Exercise. Ambition.

I officially have old person New Years Resolutions.
