The New Adventures of... Thrilling tales of mild discomfort and general complacence
Thursday, July 22, 2004Music: The Beach Boys - Wouldn't it Be Nice?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So it was my birthday today. I'm 20... ...I don't know how I feel about that. It's just that it's weird to not be a teenager anymore. I'm an adult now. What's that all about? It feels like I should have taken today to evaluate where I'm going in life. You know. Get my shit together. But....the weird thing is....it feels like my shit already is together. I know what I want to do after college. I'm happy with the college I'm at. I know when I want to get my own place. I'm overall happy with my appearence, and I'll take my time with improvement. I don't like things to be too jarring, and I know that about myself. I'm reading more, and not watching as much television. I'm a bit high strung, but a lot of it comes from being around my constantly on edge mother. Is that strange? The fact that I feel okay with where I am. Oh forget it. I'm gonna go to bed now. This is just too existential for me right now. ::transmission ended:: This transmission logged byErisSaid on 11:44 PM

Monday, July 12, 2004Music: The Living End - Jimmy~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Overall boring day. Got my paycheck. Spent it already ordering DVDs :P Good day. I tried to figure out a new way to - Oh my GOD! Okay...gotta interrupt myself! I'm watching Law & Order. It's a pretty recent one. Dr. Skoda the shrink is on right now and he has a mustache! It's really creepy!! ::cries:: Okay...some people really shouldn't grow facial hair... Unholy hell! Now he's wearing an Old Irish Guy Hat! He...dear Jesus...HE LOOKS LIKE MY DAD! The mustache is in the Ned Flanders style just like my father's...aaahhh!!! Okay...Okay...Skoda's scary 'stache is gone...hopfully they won't use him in court...bathroom break... ::cries:: Great...my DAD is testifying for the prosecution...Well at least he's right... Okay. Where was I? Oh yeah. I tried to re-order my DVD collection but couldn't come up with a good one that would be comprehensible. By genre is too hard because I have so many genre benders. By actor get's fuzzy because of all my animated movies and TV shows. Autobiographical would be fine, but I'm not sure that my mom (a frequent borrower of DVDs) would get it, nor would I at about 8 a.m. Well...I'm sure I had more to say, but I'm to scarred by the 'stache. I'm gonna go...place... ::transmission ended:: This transmission logged byErisSaid on 10:24 PM

Monday, July 05, 2004Music: David Bowie & Queen - Under Pressure~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Oh my God! Ken Jennings (aka "Crazy Guy") is *still* on Jeopardy! This is absurd! The man probably doesn't have to work again! His constant victory is a very polarizing thing for me. His intimate knowledge of seemingly useless trivia makes my opinion fluctuate between wanting to slap him silly or send him a marriage proposal. Oh well...rock on, Ken Jennings...rock on... P.S - I just saw something rediculous. They have refridgerators with TVs in them. What...the fuck... ::transmission ended:: This transmission logged byErisSaid on 7:16 PM

Sunday, July 04, 2004Music: Forces of Evil - Fight~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ That was a great trip to Toronto. There were plenty of high points (Canada Day BBQ, getting my hair cut at a nice place, etc.), but the the crowning acheivement was totally the Skafest! Let's do a breakdown: Lucky Boys Confusion was the first set, and they came out looking like studs. You'd think the first set was doomed to suck, just from sound equipment issues. But each of their songs sounded great and they interacted well with the crows. It was awesome. V and I were right by the front, pretty close to the amp, but not overly so. Total blast. Then Rx Bandits came on...Oh man...I'm kinda glad they sucked. Meant we got to sit down for awhile. They basically just flowed from one song in to another and never talked to the crows. I was unimpressed. Cath 22 played a very entertaining set what I was able to enjoy despite the fact that this is the set during which I got my ass kicked by the mosh-pit people. More about the mosh pit later. Reel. Big. Fish. Oh man. You don't get to be the headliner for nothing. Every song was perfect. They were hysterical between songs. Scott sang a song. It was all perfect. That was a ton of fun and deffinitely worth the price of admission. There's just no way I can accurately describe how awesome a time it was. But now on to the audience. It seems a bit mystifying that something as violent as a mosh pit would happen at a Ska concert, so how do they happen? Let's begin at the beginning. Did you know that Ska, like many musical genres, has it's own dance? It's called "Skanking" and it basically consists of prancing either in place or in a little moving circle with your fellow audience members. It's very fun to watch and everyone doing it seems genuinely happy. But when in one of those moving Skank Pits, someone is inevitably going too screw up and throw people off their rythem. Depending on the level of alcohol intake of the involved parties, this will often result in pushing and shoving out of anger. Mosh pit ensues. Or, at least, that's my theory. I gotta get going now, seeing as how I'm over an hour late for Anty's BBQ. Happy 4th of July, everyone! ::transmission ended:: This transmission logged byErisSaid on 3:14 PM
