Music: Rolling Stones - Honky-Tonk Women
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yeah...so my work ethic has been sliding down the crapper since that IR Midterm was assigned.
After doing that mid-term, I don't feel like doing anything else. I *know* that I have a Spanish paper due tomorrow, but I don't even have a first version because I changed my topic during out editing session (just for the record, this was not merely a cheap attempt to sweep under the rug that I only had two pages done. my first topic wasn't what I wanted to write about anymore, so I changed it). I'll bite the bullet eventually, but right now I just don't want to do anything that isn't fun.
Shit. Even sleeping seems to be taking precedence over my classes. I slept through my alarm today and didn't go to my first class. Maybe just that it was IR Theory. I'm still kinda bitter st the fact that not only did the teacher scold me for not being more cheerful and upbeat in class, but he was also pretty useless answering my questions. Either way, I fell like I can handle going to International Law now.
One more thing that kinda got to me. I was on the phone with my mother yesterday talking about the Omicron Delta Kappa invitation that I got. I know I'm not getting in since they only take 10 out of 600 applicants, but it can't hurt to apply. But anyway, I was telling my mom about all of the qualities that they want to see, like athletic ability, leadership in publications and journalism, and community service *on top* of having a 3.5 GPA or above. I said to my mother "I'm deffinitely not going to be one of the ten they pick. I barely balance my tiny amount of activities and am barely clinging on to my 3.5 cumulative." Then she get's kinda studdery and says, "Yeah, well, just try and hold on to that GPA. Don't you want to get to wear that sash around your neck when you graduate?"
......
I was stunned. Of *COURSE* I'd like to graduate with honors! But I'd appreciate if se didn't make it sound like it was easy! I could probably boost my GPA if I took little classes like Acting 101 and shit like that just for the A, but I don't want to do that. All of the classes that I take are either requirements for my major or classes that I have a genuine curiosity about. Sure, acting might be a great class, but it's not something that interests me. I'd rather slog my way through Geographies of Nationalism and learn things that really speak to me.
Oh well, I need to get ready for class now.
