I realize now that I never publically reacted to the NJ elections. Sure Jason called me and to celebrate, but as usual I had to kill his euphoria.

Sure. I voted Menendez. And I hated ever second of it. I was ashamed of myself for perpetuating a system I think is almost beyond repair. I regret voting. Instead of voting for Menendez I should have spent my time out on the streets with a bullhorn explaining to everyone in earshot the evils of gerrymandering and the abject failures of campaign financing system. That would been just as important.

As for the "anti-incumbent" face that this past election took on, I thought I would be happier about it. Incumbents get an unfair advantage which pushes the system in to a rut. But this wasn't an anti-incumbent race because people had woken up to how skewed the system was. They were just pissed and irrational, wanting to take their vengence out on anyone: even people who were not the enemy. Blind voting of any kind makes me very very sad. I'd rather see people informed.

As for the Democrats winning...like I give a shit. Same garbage, different suit. Their entire party message makes me suspicious. If they are supposed to be Champions of the Disadvantaged and it's the disadvantaged that vote them in...what kind of incentive do they have to improve anyone's conditions? No one is going to actively undermine their voting base. And the cyclical nature of NJ's welfare system (which is pointless to try to get out of by finding a good paying job and going back to school because, if you did get a good job you'l loose all your other benefits and have to start paying money back to the government), looks like a voter trap. It's the illusion of help and compassion without any substance. In a way, the Republicans are more honest in that they make it quite clear they don't care about the middle and lower classes. They're still huge bullshitters when they say they give half a damn about "free market capitalism" among other thing though.

The system is so broken that perhaps even a lone-gunman couldn't fix it at this point. The corruption is too wide spread. And no one will ever try to cut off the money flowing in to these guys' pockets. The lobbyists are too powerful and like this rut far to much.

So congratulations, Democrats. Now *you* get to be the ones to profit most from the efforts of people with real jobs. Isn't that just super for you.
