Music: Cat Power - The Greatest
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Couple busy days in work have meant I haven't really had time to write a blog post, so I'll try and make up for lost time today. Blogging from home? The scandle!
On Thursday I had a nice little panic attack (it's been awhile. I was starting to forget how good they are for my sinuses). Since my boss's computer can't seem to find the office printer, she sometimes uses my computer after I leave. And she did exactly that on Tuesday. Wednesday we had to close the office because neither I nor Marilyn could get out of our friggin' houses (stupid street cleaners not doing their jobs....so much ice....). So I get in on Thursday and Marilyn says to me that the boss *really* needs to talk to me. The story is that after I left, she did a Google search of her name (no idea why) and "the first thing that came up" was my facebook profile. Whatever. Nothing incriminating there. I'm not stupid. The big deal was what came up after that: Images of her calender, clients' names and phone numbers, and a whole bunch of other really sensative information.
I nearly shit a brick. That wasn't possible. I was like "maybe we have hackers or something because there's no *WAY* I could or would put that stuff on the internet." We tried to retrace the boss's steps and it wasn't long before the mystery was solved: She was never searching the internet. She was using my Google Desktop software and searching my hard drive and internet history. None of the stuff she found was online. All she did was confirm that I did my job and kept her calender up to date. I was terrified she wouldn't believe me, but thankfully she trusted me and my demonstration...I'm very lucky. She's very understanding, and frankly probably trusts my judgment more than my own mother does.
Speaking of the mother, she's driving us and herself nuts. She was all stoked to not be working anymore, but suprise suprise she's bored as hell. The last time she wasn't working I was thriteen years old. Meaning I still needed to be driven around and picked up after and yadda yadda yadda. I caused things for her to do. Now I'm basically self-sufficient (basically) so there's just not as much to do. She's going insane. We went shopping together yesterday, but I'm wondering how long she can go before she just completely loses her mind. What she needs is a hobby, but it's impossible to get her to acknowledge it. She's wonderfully creative. She's always loved to sew and she's super good at it (I failed to inherit that talent, much to her chagrin). I suggested she pick that up again, but she her response is always "what am I going to make?" I can't answer that. She's good at crochet too, but I suspect she'll react the same way if I suggest that.
Meanwhile, I don't have work on Monday (thanks, Presidents' Day and your closure of courts!) so I have been vegging to the extreme. I finally finished the keyhole scarf (pic). Love the colors, love the texture, love the yarn, love the style. It's also the perfect scarf to wear with the high-neck coats I have. It'll stay under the coat and not slip around off my neck. That kiwi green is the most beautifully hideous green I've ever seen. I love it. I want to make everything in that color. I'd totally make a sweater out of the darker one, though. More sedate. More my style. And I *will* finish that fucking sleeve for the cardigan today. If I can get this one done I know I can make myself plow through the last one. Slap the thing together, add the trim, pretend I know how to sew a button on, and voila. Super warm sweater to wear over the 8000+ tank tops I own.
I'm also on a new music hunt. Found out two bands I enjoy have new CDs out: Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Living End. I'll probably sample the Yeah Yeah Yeahs one before I buy it. The Living End is already purchased. I've been listening to and likeing their music for long enough that I can just kinda trust them. Also just found the chic posted above, Cat Power. Really digging it. Like Nora Jones, but doesn't make me want to fall asleep. Might invest in another album today.
And somehow I managed to stretch 4 dull days in to a super long blog post.
